Changes to District Calendar
(as of Feb. 26, 2010)
 
Please be sure to view the updated 2009-2010 District Calendar to understand that changes that were made to the district schedule due to the recent snow days. The changes include:
  • Extending the school year through Friday, June 25 for students
  • Removing Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30 (due to the snow day on Feb. 26) from the beginning of the “Spring Break’’ holiday. This means there WILL be school on Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30.
  • Removing Monday, April 5 from the end of the “Spring Break’’ holiday. This means there WILL be school on Monday, April 5.
 
Additionally, the board created the following contingency plans in the event we experience additional unscheduled closings from this point forward. These changes include:
  • Announcing that IF there are additional unscheduled closings, the board will eliminate holidays in the calendar in the following order: March 31 and April 1.
  • Announcing that IF there are additional unscheduled closings after the holidays above are eliminated, the year would be extended in the following order: June 28, June 29 and June 30.

THE ANNUAL GOETZ GIFT AUCTION WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 9, 2010.
We are looking for donations for homeroom baskets as well as gift certificates to resturants, nail and hair salons, etc. All donations would be greatly appreciated!

The Goetz Guidance Department will be hosting two “Career Days”. We are looking for speakers to present information about their careers.  The 6Th grade Career Day presentations will be held on March 11, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30a.m. The 7th and 8th grade Career Fair will be held on April 8, 2010, from 8:30 a.m.  to 1:00 p.m. Anyone interested in being part of this worthwhile event please contact the Goetz Guidance Department at (732) 833-4747, or click on the link for further information.

THE NEXT YOUTH ALIVE BIBLE CLUB MEETING WILL BE ON THURSDAY, MARCH 11TH.  PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT THEIR NEW PROJECT "HANDS FOR HAITI."  THE MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE IN ROOM 405.

OUTDOOR SOFTBALL TRYOUTS WILL BEGIN TUESDAY, MARCH 9TH.  CHECK THE SIGNS AROUND SCHOOL TO SEE WHEN YOU SHOULD REPORT.
 
ALL BOYS BASKETBALL UNIFORMS ARE TO BE RETURNED THIS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10TH, AFTER SCHOOL IN THE GYM.  THIS IS THE ONLY TIME THEY WILL BE COLLECTED.

THE EIGHTH GRADE CLASS TRIP WILL BE A CRUISE AROUND THE NEW YORK HARBOR ABOARD THE SPIRIT OF NY CRUISE SHIP!! THIS FANTASTIC TRIP WILL TAKE PLACE ON MAY 27, 2010.  
 
TOTAL COST:  $62.75
 
DEPART FROM GOETZ AT 8:15 A.M.
RETURN TO GOETZ AT 4:00 P.M. - YOUR STUDENT WILL NEED TO BE PICKED UP

Dear Parents/Guardian:

The second half of the school year is always hectic and exciting for the staff at Goetz and for you and your children. Middle School is a very challenging and engaging time. The administration and faculty welcomes this time to help your children prepare for the many opportunities that we offer.  While classes are involved in preparing for the New Jersey ASK test, we are also busy making plans for our Gift Auction in April.

A cooperative effort by both parents and school will improve the quality of your child's middle school experience in all areas, academic, social and emotional. Your interest, involvement, support and guidance are important. Working together, we can make certain that your children will meet with success during their years at Goetz. Please feel free to call upon us and to help us by staying involved in all aspects of your child's schooling. We are sure to make the 2009-2010 school year a valuable learning opportunity. Together, we can enhance your child's education at Goetz.
