Happening Now at Goetz

Check out our
ebackpack for the latest issue of the Goetz Gazette!

Have you been wondering what to get your friend or teacher for Valentine's Day?  Well, wonder no more!  Val-O-Grams are going on sale beginning Monday, January 30th in all homerooms.  Val-O-Grams are heart-shaped lollipops that you can send to someone special, a friend, a teacher, or even to yourself!  The cost is $1.00 and they'll sell out fast, so buy yours right away!  All lollipops will be delivered on Tuesday, February 14th for Valentine's Day.

Minute to Win It
The Goetz School is involved in a Minute to Win It reading challenge!  In Celebration of Read Across America Week, the students and staff will be reading as many books as possible in order to participate in our very own Goetz Minute to Win It game show!  See more information on our Ebackpack.

MyCokeRewards has teamed up with McDonalds to bring us even more points! Please check your McDonalds' soda cups for the 3 point peel off.  Drop off your points in the Main Office.

The Goetz Student Council is sponsoring a used cell phone drive.  If you have any used, old, or broken cell phones you would like to have recycled, please bring them down to the library.

The Physical Education department would like to kick off the New Year by recognizing our heart.  February is Healthy Heart Month.  Throughout the year we will give tips on how to keep your heart healthy.
When is comes to preventing heart disease, here are some lifestyle rules.  Don't smoke, get regular exercise, avoid obesity by eating a balanced healthy diet, and enjoy life.
Don't forget, February 3rd is National "Go Red" day.  We urge everyone to wear red on that day to celebrate our heart.

The Goetz Student Council is participating in Aeropostale's Jeans for Teens drive.  Please bring  your old jeans (any size baby/child/adult) to the drop off bin located on the stage in the library.  The school that collects the most jeans (you know we can do this!) receives a new pair of jeans for each student, $5,000 for the school, and a party!  Remember, don't just clean out your closet, clean out  your neighbors, friends, etc.  Thanks for your participation!

From The Principal

Greetings from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s hard to imagine the warm, sunny days of Spring while we are currently experiencing freezing temperatures, but before we turn around they will be here!  We are already gearing up for activities and events that have become traditions at the Goetz Middle School.  One of our biggest and perhaps most widely publicized fund-raising event is our Annual Gift AuctionThis year’s Gift Auction will be held on Friday, April 20th at Goetz.  Tickets will go on sale during the month of March.  In addition to an evening of fun, friends, and fabulous items for auction, there will be light refreshments and delicious desserts to enjoy!  With your help and participation, this year’s Gift Auction can be our most successful yet.  We are looking for donations of any kind – Maybe you received an “unusual” present for the holidays and just can’t decide where to put it?  Maybe you shop at a wonderful boutique and can ask them to donate a gift card? Or maybe you know someone who works in a service occupation (massage, car wash, discounted car service to airport, hair cut…) and they would like to donate a certificate for the service?  We are setting our sights on a highly successful auction, and thank you in advance for your support and spirit!  Looking forward to seeing you at the GIFT AUCTION – Going once, going twice………Sold!!!

Dr. Faith Lessig, Principal
